Why we care
We care because we care for the women in Indonesia. We are international friends of Jurnal Perempuan who live in all parts of the world, who are originally from Indonesia or have lived in Indonesia. We are also women and men who worked in Indonesia professionally or are interested in Indonesia. We support Jurnal Perempuan in their work, to advocate, educate and publish research on gender issues in Indonesia. We encourage you to help Jurnal Perempuan by becoming International Friends of Jurnal Perempuan. Please donate US$12 monthly or US$ 144 yearly, we greatly appreciate your contribution.
The Women's Journal Foundation (YJP) is a small non-profit women’s organization in Indonesia. YJP is known in Indonesia for publishing Jurnal Perempuan (JP), first published in 1996, and to date, the only feminist journal in Indonesia accredited by the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Through Jurnal Perempuan’s publication, YJP has supported women scholars to publish their work and research on gender issues in Indonesia. More than 300 women scholars have published their articles in Jurnal Perempuan, and more than 100 women published their short stories and poems for Jurnal Perempuan. The journal is now available in the Open Journal Systems and is available in English. Jurnal Perempuan research is also extensively utilized for training in NGOs, institutions, and community organizations. Using research-based knowledge, YJP advocates gender issues in Indonesia, partnering with many organizations working on trafficking of women and children, sexual harassment, violence against women, LGBTQ, and women’s reproductive justice. We rely on donations to continue our work and would like to reach out to our international friends to join us in building a gender equity world. We need your support!
